FATXplorer uses the latest cutting edge technology and components to make the exploring experience a true treat. In order for FATXplorer to run efficiently, it is important to read this to know what to do to prepare for the upcoming alpha and the eventual RTM release.

FATXplorer is being developed on Windows 7 x64. Therefore, Windows 7, especially the x64 version, is the best operating system to run the program on. All versions of Windows 7 and Windows Vista, however, are completely supported.. as long as the following steps are taken:

Step 1: .NET Framework 4

Ever since the CTP release of Visual Studio 2010 and the .NET Framework 4, I have been keeping a close eye on it. I followed it all the way until the RTM release in April. As soon as it was out, I downloaded the package and FATXplorer was updated to the latest framework. However, most people are unaware of the release and therefore do not have the framework installed. Which is now essential for FATXplorer v2.0 to run. To check if you have the framework go here: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework and see if you have a folder named v4.0.30319. If you do, good for you! You may skip to step 2 now. If you do not see this folder, then download and install the .NET Framework package from Microsoft. Again, this is needed in order for FATXplorer to run at all.

Step 2: Updates

It has been confirmed many times that your computer needs to be up to date as possible in order to run FATXplorer. So launch Windows Update, check for updates, and install all available important updates.

Operating System Support List

Windows XP: Confirmed compatibility issues, warning message is displayed on program startup, but program will run. Do not contact support if you are running Windows XP. Use on Windows XP is highly discouraged.

Get your computer up to date by following the above and you will be ready for FATXplorer v2.0.
