Xbox 360 Error 69 or 70 with XL Internal HDDs

Important Note: The contents of this page only applies to modded Xbox 360 consoles that have the XL internal HDD patch applied. If your console is not modded, or you are not using the XL internal HDD patch, please look elsewhere for a solution to your error.

Error 69

An Xbox 360 console with the XL internal HDD patch applied will boot to E69 if the HDD was not formatted using FATXplorer. This is to prevent non-XL-formatted HDDs from being loaded, and to protect your data from corruption. Please perform a one-time format of the HDD using FATXplorer and the error will go away. After the one-time format in FATXplorer, you can reformat the HDD at any time on the Xbox 360 dashboard if you ever feel the need to start fresh. If your XL-formatted HDD has suddenly started causing E69, there is an easy fix to get things back in working order. Contact FATXplorer support for help.

Error 70

An Xbox 360 console with the XL internal HDD patch applied will boot to E69 if the HDD is 4K Native. The Xbox 360 does not support 4K Native internal HDDs. You are unlikely to see this because 4K Native drives are uncommon, and FATXplorer will not format a 4K Native HDD. However, it may be possible to convert the HDD to a format that will work. Contact FATXplorer support for help.
